Spruceton Inn Queer Wedding in the Catskills

Ok, true story here — I accidentally stayed too long at this wedding. Like, I stayed til the end and when I was packing up my gear I realized that I had accidentally stayed over the time I had been scheduled. THAT’S HOW INTO IT I WAS.

So, back up to more of the beginning of this day — Aaron + Harry had one of the most joyous, loving weddings I’ve ever seen. Nestled in the Catskills, Spruceton Inn opens up to just a few weddings each year and is such a lovely, special spot. It was a pretty perfect summer day — setting the scene for a gorgeous, heartfelt outdoor ceremony. Cocktail hour was right outside the sweet little barn on the property — before guests gathered under the tent for wonderful toasts to the two of them and incredible food by (hashtagmyfavorite) Fig & Pig.

I shot this wedding with both digital and 35mm film — there was a slowness, a genuineness to this day that really fit the way I feel about film. The amount of love everywhere felt tangible — everyone just seemed so damn happy to be there, was impossible to get caught up in that magic hence me accidentally just staying too long, a total first for me.

(This was the first wedding where we played with double exposures on film during the reception — so much fun, definitely recommend, will be doing again.)

It’s no secret I love the Catskills — and if you’re looking for a special spot for your wedding, highly recommend Spruceton Inn (or you know — you could just go stay there as well — minus the wedding). Happy to be going back there next Fall.
