Besides all of these photos – I took rolls and rolls of 35mm film at my last elopement at the Hemingway House in Key West. I felt like my film belonged to this day – it was easy to want to capture everything on 35mm film – from the romantic, intimate ceremony under the palm trees to the free roaming boss cats of The Hemingway House. (i.e. the entire reason I’m obsessed with this place).
My love of 35mm film is hard to fully explain – there’s a nostalgic, romantic feel to the images that I can’t replicate anywhere else. Shooting film also encourages me to be even more present with the day itself — and that wasn’t hard to do with Mimi and Graham. They planned a Key West elopement that was beautiful, intentional and romantic — and I hope that these photographs tell a little bit of that story.
